Hello All

We have a message from Faith Greenhalgh regarding the jumble collection facility at the Old School which we would like to share.

If anyone is thinking of bringing jumble to the Old School please don’t, we are not likely to have any sales for some time and we cannot store masses of stuff, people have left some which has become wet through and if it is damaged someone has to take it to the tip. There is a sign up to this effect that is being ignored. In normal circumstances we would be very grateful for items to sell but these are far from normal times.

Good Morning

The UK Government is undertaking a consultation on the Highway Code. Basically it is to improve road safety for cyclists, pedestrians and horse riders. If you wish to participate please use the following link.

The main alterations to the code being proposed are:

·         introducing a hierarchy of road users which ensures that those road users who can do the greatest harm have the greatest responsibility to reduce the danger or threat they may pose to others

·         clarifying existing rules on pedestrian priority on pavements, to advise that drivers and riders should give way to pedestrians crossing or waiting to cross the road,

·         providing guidance on cyclist priority at junctions to advise drivers to give priority to cyclists at junctions when travelling straight ahead

·         establishing guidance on safe passing distances and speeds when overtaking cyclists and horse riders

COVID-19 Legal Position

Please find below a link which has been forwarded by Ken Dearden, this website clarifies the current legal position with respect to Covid-19 regulations and highlights what is misinformation.

Ken also points out that individuals still have the choice to take whatever precautions against Covid-19 they deem to be appropriate, going beyond the current legal requirement.

D-Caff, the lovely place for people living with dementia, their careers, family and friends to meet is based at Greenmount Cricket Club.

Last month it was announced that it had received the Queens Award for Voluntary Service, the equivalent of an MBE.

Today Joani, Laura, Alistair and Joan were formally congratulated by the Mayor of Bury, Councillor Tim Pickstone.

Playground Update

You may be aware that outdoor playgrounds in England are allowed to be reopened from the 4th of July. The council grounds team cannot begin reopening our playgrounds until at least 6th July so the Greenmount area will reopen as soon as possible on or after that date.  Thank you for your patience, please avoid using it until it is fully recommissioned, it will be wonderful to see the fabulous facility in full use once again after being out of operation for so long.

Greenmount Helpers

The Greenmount Helpers service is still operational but as from this weekend the telephone number will no longer be in use.  If you need any assistance please email [email protected] and somebody will respond to your query as soon as possible
