Just a little reminder of some events taking place in The Village over the next few days:

Thursday 30^th September – Greenmount Community Cuppa and Chat Quiz 2pm till 4pm in The Old School.

Friday 1^st October –  Woodland Management – 10am till 12 noon meet at Island Lodge car park (new volunteers welcome, equipment provided, bring gardening gloves)

Saturday 2^nd October – Table Top Sale and Drop In where you can buy your lunch. 9am till 12 noon in The Old School (Donations of cake will be warmly welcomed as well as new volunteers).

Dear All,

Many of you will have already heard the sad news about the passing  
of our good friend Faith Greenhalgh. Faith was a founder member of  
the Greenmount Village Community (GVC), and has held a position on  
the committee since 2010. Even before this she gave so much of her  
time to the many activities held at Greenmount Old School.

Faith’s family have informed us that her funeral will take place at  
Greenmount United Reform Church on Tuesday 28th September at

A reminder that there will be live firing on the Holcombe Moor Range tomorrow (Wednesday 29th) and Thursday 30^th September, please find attached the latest firing notices.

During firing times the red flags will be flying and there will be no public access, including no use of the footpaths across the MOD training land.

Here are two local quiz events to tax your brains

The first one is being held at Greenmount Old School from 2 – 4pm on Thursday 30^th September, entry £1 including a hot drink and a cake

Next up is a Quiz Night in aid of the Tottington Centre, to be held on Friday October 15 @7.30pm at Walshaw Sports Club.  A flyer with full details is attached to this email.

I am sharing an email from Martin Proffitt who is working with the Friends of Burrs and Bury Council to identify and prioritise improvements to the Country Park.  In addition to a copy of the masterplan for consultation there is also a link to a survey, if you are interested please click on the link to respond and share to anyone who you think may be interested in the project.

You are receiving this email as you have all stated an interest in improvements for Burrs Country Park. You can go directly to a survey here. Please view the attached draft masterplan.

 Through the consultation we have received some really good direct feedback from over 200 households and organisations in the area, and have been able to draft a masterplan. This is really good but we could do with a little more feedback on the masterplan. Can you help by forwarding this email to people (your contacts) who you think may be interested in having their say on how improvements are made at Burrs Country Park or maybe you know of a community group or school contact list it can get directed to?

 Please click on this link where you will find more information and a link to a survey. Plans are attached to this email. There are larger plans that can be viewed in and around Burrs Country Park itself, with a handy QR code. Pop down and have a look!

 Once we have collected and collated the information, the draft masterplan will be finalised and be used to try and seek funding from a number of sources for priority improvements. Please note that no funding has been secured yet – this is just the development phase.

 This is the first step in trying to prove the need for the improvements to funders and we need your help to prove the case. The more people who respond the more likely we are to succeed.

Everyone welcome to come & listen to this very interesting speaker & learn how to make your garden a haven for wildlife.

Table Top Sales are arranged for:

• Sat. 2^nd October*
• Sat.16^th October
• Sat.6^th November*
• Saturday 20^th November
• Christmas Cracker Fair will be on 4^th December
• Saturday 11^th December*

*same day as a Drop In when café will be open..)

All money raised will go towards alterations to the toilet area off the corridor and a new kitchen.

The success of the Table Top Sales depends on all our volunteers and that enough people are there to set up from 7.45am; sell on a stalls from 9am to 12; clear away 12 to 1pm.

New volunteers from our community are very welcome.

The long wait is over, perhaps….. and the next Woodland Management time is scheduled for Friday 1^st October from 10am-12.30pm and currently the thought is to meet in Island Lodge car park. Please make a note in your calendar if you wish to come along.

Being in October there is likely to be some tree felling.

Please can I ask where possible that you promote and share the Bury Virtual September Challenge through all your networks and communication channels please.  Feel free to enter and take up the challenge yourself or with family, friends and colleagues too 😊

Basically speaking those who were already signed up for the Bury 10k or Bury 10miler this year which has been postponed will retain their place for next year, AND be able to enter for free for the virtual event this year which is great. 

Those who weren’t already signed up can sign up for the virtual challenge for a small cost or they could even sign up to the virtual for this year and next years event for a discounted joint price.

Anyone can enter and all they have to do is complete 10k or 10miles in September and just submit their evidence – they don’t even need to do their distance in one go which is a great opportunity for more people. 👍🏾

Good Afternoon

A schedule of table top sales and Saturday drop in sessions have been planned, all to be held at Greenmount Old School, Brandlesholme Road, BL8 4DS

Here are the dates for your calendars;

The table top sales will be held from 9am to 12 on Saturday September 4^th & 18^th , October 2^nd & 16^th  , November 6^th & 20^th  , December 4^th.

Three drop in sessions will also take place on Saturday October 2^nd , November 6^th & December 4^th.                                 

If you haven’t been before our stalls include; Bric a Brac, Toys, Jigsaws, Clothes, Jewellery, Bags, Shoes, Books, DVDs and CDs, Electrical Items, Heart Art and for the drop in sessions a café is in operation.

Now with CASHLESS/CONTACTLESS PAYMENTS

These sessions are all run by our volunteers.  If you want to help either setting up, during the event or packing away then please get in touch.
