Peel Tower Conditions Project

Dear All,

I’m really pleased to share that new interpretation panels and finger posts have now been installed at Peel Tower as part of the Peel Tower Conditions Project. It’s fantastic to see these in place, helping visitors discover more about the history of this iconic local landmark while making it easier for people to explore the surrounding area.

One of my favourite parts of the project has been seeing the involvement of the children from Emmanuelle Holcombe Primary School. Working alongside artist Amy Callaghan, they helped shape the new interpretation, and it’s wonderful to see their ideas and creativity reflected at such a special place.

A big thank you also goes to Bury Council for supporting the project throughout, and to The National Lottery Heritage Fund for their generous funding and continued support. Projects like this simply wouldn’t be possible without that investment. Thanks also to Proffitts-Investing in Communities who always manage to make things happen.

Peel Tower is such an important part of our local heritage, and these new interpretation panels are a great way of helping visitors discover its story. I hope you’ll have the chance to visit, look at the new interpretation, and maybe even discover something new about this special place.

Kind regards,

Julie Southworth

Greenmount WI

Dear All,

Can you help? Do you know of anyone who may be interested in joining the Greenmount WI? Please see below a message from their secretary Pauline Rushton. There is a meeting tonight and every month. See poster attached too for further detail. Regards, Julie

I am trying to promote Greenmount WI which has been going for 52 years and we need new members. I fear that if we do not get more new members it will be in danger of closing in October which will be very sad.. Regards, Pauline Rushton Secretary Greenmount WI
