Jigsaw Library

Dear All,

I recently sent a message about a Jigsaw Library we are setting up at Greenmount Old School. As we are unable to open for Saturday Morning Drop In sessions nor run Jumble Sales, this is a good opportunity for residents to borrow a jigsaw for the small sum of £2. You can spend as long as you wish completing the puzzle and should you like another one, your next loan will cost you only £1.

This small fee enables us to raise some funds for The Old School which still has fixed running costs. More important this allows our residents some enjoyment in the winter months from a good old-fashioned pastime.

One of our Greenmount Helpers has kindly volunteered to run the Jigsaw Library, with other helpers also available to deliver your requests.

The lady in question is: Anke Harris who you can email directly at –  [email protected]  or text or call on  07825016950

(she would prefer a text, but she is also willing to take calls.

When you look at the photographs in the attached document, you will see that each jigsaw is numbered. Once you know which one you would like, you simply text or email Anke leaving your address and contact number and it can be delivered directly to you. Alternatively you could make arrangements with Anke to collect your jigsaw puzzle from the Old School on a Saturday morning between 10am – 11am letting her know in advance which number you have chosen.

I hope the above instructions are clear but should you have any problems please do not hesitate to contact me or speak directly to Anke for further clarification.

I hope you enjoy the Jigsaw Library and if you know of a neighbour who does not have access to email but may be interested in loaning a jigsaw, then please print out the pictures and show them what is on offer. This will help us to reach out further to our community. If anyone has any jigsaws they wish to donate to this scheme, these can be left in the foyer of The Old School between 9.30am and 11.45am any Saturday morning.

With kind regards,

Julie Southworth

Good morning

This is a reminder to everyone that there will be firing at the Holcombe Moor TC this weekend, the 21st and 22nd November.  During this time please observe the red flags and avoid encroaching on or crossing over MOD land during this time as per the notices displayed on the moor.  Any encroachment on MOD land may lead to a permanent loss of public access over this stunning area.

Jigsaw Library and Good as New Toy Collection

Jigsaw Library

I am writing to inform you of a new project we are running from Greenmount Old School. As you will be aware we are unable to run the Saturday morning ‘Drop In’ sessions and the Jumble Sales, where we would normally raise funds for The Old School . We have decided to organise a Lending Library for the loan of Jigsaw Puzzles, for a small charge.

Some of you will be aware of the range of puzzles available at The Old School, and many more would be welcome. If you have any jigsaw puzzles you wish to pass on, these can be dropped off any Saturday morning from 9.30am – 11.30am  and left inside the porch. Please take care to follow social distancing rules when approaching the entrance and wear a mask. Thank you.

A member of our community has kindly offered to be our contact for the loan and distribution of the puzzles with GVC helpers assisting with deliveries.

More information about this new project will follow in due course, with photographs of jigsaw puzzles you can choose from.

Unwanted Good as New Toys

We are also collecting Good as New Toys for Father Wyatt to give out to deprived children in the inner city of Salford.  These can be left in the porch of the Old School on any Saturday morning from now until 5th December. The church usually have a Toy Service when these are collected, but of course they are unable to do that this year.

When dropping off toys in the porch, please observe the social distancing rules and wear a mask when entering the building. Thank you for your support.

Best wishes,

Julie Southworth

Businesses urged to have their say on two major consultations

Businesses urged to have their say on two major consultations to help Greater Manchester build back greener

Greater Manchester’s leaders are calling on all businesses to make sure they have their say in two major public consultations to help shape the city-region’s final plans to tackle air pollution as part of efforts to build back cleaner and greener following the pandemic.

Tens of thousands of people have already engaged with the proposals – with over 40,000 finding out more about key elements of the Clean Air Zone (CAZ) and minimum standards for taxis and private hire vehicles licensed in the city-region online.

Businesses and people across the region still have several weeks to have their say on the consultations, which run until 11:59pm on Thursday 3 December 2020.

People can find out more and give their views at cleanairgm.com and gmtaxistandards.com, or request further support, including copies of consultation documents, on 0161 244 1100.

In a first for Greater Manchester, the websites are hosting a virtual engagement space open 24/7 during the consultation period given government guidance around social distancing.

The virtual engagement area  includes all the consultation materials and we’re running online drop-in sessions where people can ask the Clean Air team questions about the proposals from their computer, tablet or mobile phone.

For businesses and taxi operators, the Clean Air team is also hosting a series of webinars, which offer a more detailed presentation and an opportunity to ask questions about the plans and funding packages being proposed.

Business webinars – 10-11am on Wednesday 18 November and 4-5pm on Thursday 26 November.

Taxi and Private Hire webinars – 2-3pm on Wednesday 11 November and 3-4pm on Wednesday 25 November.

To find out more about the GM Clean Air Plan and how to sign-up to one of the webinars or have a question for the chat, visit cleanairgm.com.
