Tree works

Dear All,

Just a quick update to let you know that tree works at Island Lodge are due to start on Monday 23rd Feb.

Here is a link to further background and information. https://www.proffittscic.com/community-projects/island-lodge-tree-works-bury/

As a brief reminder this work is required by the Environment Agency in order to meet legal safety requirements of the Reservoirs Act 1975, and to make sure that the lodge doesn’t breach and flood the land and homes nearby.Keeping the embankments clearer will also allow better visibility of the area when safety inspections are carried out.

Kind regards,

Julie Southworth

Wildlife Notice

Dear All,

Mink have been spotted in most waters in our area, notably Island Lodge but also the other lodges nearby. They have also been seen in Summerseat, near Greenmount golf course and in Burrs.

They are indiscriminate killers, taking out ducklings, goslings, and cygnets. Also, birds, fish, water voles and, like foxes, mink cause havoc in hen coops. They are non-native and are apex predators.

Traps will shortly be laid in and around Island Lodge. The traps will be checked daily, and any innocent wildlife accidentally trapped will be freed.

Bury Council are fully aware of these activities.

Kind regards,

Julie Southworth
