Jean Clayton

Good Morning

Please find below a message from John Mather, the nephew of Jean Clayton who has recently passed away.

Julie Southworth

I can now confirm that Jean’s funeral will take place on Wednesday 1st December at Greenmount United Reformed Church commencing at 11:30am.  This will be followed by cremation at Radcliffe crematorium.  I am presently trying to organise a suitable venue for refreshments.

It is intended that a notice will be included in this week’s Bury Times.

I am happy for people to contact me directly, by either phone or e-mail, should they want to make any comments, additional information, etc.

Healthwatch

Dear All,

Just to confirm the attendance of Healthwatch Bury at the Cuppa and Chat session this week from 2 – 4pm, to follow up on booster/flu jabs and support residents with any other concerns they may have.

They also have two new surveys that you may be interested in completing:

  1. Urgent Care Survey- a short survey for those who have used urgent care services recently.
  2. Financial Assessment Survey- a longer survey for those who have had a financial assessment by Bury Council.

I have attached copies of both surveys for you to review. You do not have to be attending Cuppa and Chat, just turn up if you wish to speak to anyone from Healthwatch. You may want to complete the survey attached and drop it off at The Old School Thursday afternoon.

Kind Regards,

Julie Southworth

Ramsbottom Pantry at Christ Church

Dear All,

As a community organisation, we strive to help residents as much as we can. John and I have recently been meeting with other groups across North Bury with a view to working together to ensure the health and wellbeing of our communities. This may be in the form of helping to publish events or activities which are taking place to enrich the lives of our residents.

As you are aware we often put out information regarding our local foodbanks, Porch Boxes and Brandlesholme Community Centre. We also wish to make you aware of the Ramsbottom Pantry who are based at Christ Church and Neighbourhood Centre, Great Eaves Road, Ramsbottom BL0 0PX.

Below is an overview of their activities:

  • The Pantry is always in need of donations of food and other items. If you know of any groups that might be interested in collecting, let me know and I’ll provide details.
  • If anyone doesn’t have enough money to buy food from a supermarket, we can help them.
  • If anyone is feeling a bit isolated and lonely and would like a coffee, cake and a chat then encourage them to come to the cafe in church, open from 10:00am to 12:00 each Thursday morning, where they’ll receive a warm welcome.

Best Wishes

Julie Southworth

Race listening event

We are pleased to be holding an event at Brandlesholme Community Centre as detailed below.

We are really keen to learn more about the lived experiences of people living in the Bury North Neighbourhood as We want to listen and learn, to make sure local services – council, health and other public services – are inclusive for everybody in their design, access and engagement.

If you or anyone you know would like to find out more, please let Austin or me know.

at Brandlesholme Community Centre, 375b Brandlesholme Road, Bury, BL8 1HS

Please join our local conversation and share your experiences of race.
We would like to hear from groups and individuals about how race affects your experience of living, working and studying locally.
We know that people from different backgrounds experience different issues, which can lead to differing levels of being included or excluded within our society. This sometimes includes how they are accepted, represented, and how much influence and opportunities they have.
We want to listen and learn, to make sure local services - council, health and other public services - are inclusive for everybody in their design, access and engagement.

If you have any questions or suggestions, please do not hesitate to contact me.
