Morrison’s Virtual Tour for Children

Good afternoon

I have passed this email which may well of use to people to help ease the pressure of home schooling.  Please get in touch directly with Rochelle at Morrisons if you need any further information

Kind regards

Julie Southworth

Good Afternoon

I’m Rochelle, the Community Champion at Morrisons Whitefield.

It’s my job to support good causes in our local community, including helping to stock local food banks, supporting key workers and the elderly and vulnerable. Due to Covid restrictions, we have been unable to run our normal school tours in store, however, we are delighted to let you know we have created a virtual Foodmaker & Shopkeeper Tour.

The virtual tour takes you around Market Street in one of our Morrisons stores including the Deli, Bakery, Fishmongers and Butchers counters. Along the way there are lots of fun and interesting facts to help children learn more about how food is made and where food comes from.

The link to the virtual tour can be found here: https://youtu.be/zqfOr7KpFc8

We have also created a worksheet with fun activities that children can complete during and after the video which I would be happy to share if you are interested.

Please feel free to get in touch if you have any questions or if there’s anything I can help you with. I hope you enjoy the virtual tour.

Bury MBC – Civic Buildings Consultation

Dear All

Bury Council operates three Civic Venues (Elizabethan Suite, Longfield Suite and Ramsbottom Civic Hall) all of which operate at a loss, and are also in need of significant financial investment in future years. Following a meeting of the Council’s Cabinet on 24th November 2020, closure of all three venues is proposed as an option, on a permanent basis, in order to generate ongoing savings, and to avoid the cost of future capital investment.

It is to be noted that a decision has not yet been made, or been pre-determined, have your say on these proposals here.

Drop-Off for egg boxes and carrier bags

Dear All,

Although many residents in Greenmount have been more than happy to help collect egg boxes and carrier bags for Brandlesholme Foodbank, some are unable to deliver them. As a result my husband and I have been collecting from residents or they have dropped them off at our home.

Nazia Haque Wealth Management on Holcombe  Road (the old post office), has kindly offered to become a ‘Drop Off Point’ for anyone wishing to leave carrier bags and egg boxes. Myself and my husband will collect them from here and drop them at the Foodbank on Brandlesholme Road on a regular basis.

There will be someone at Nazia’s office each day from 10am till 4pm if you are able to drop them off there. Please do not hesitate to contact me if you are unable to do this and I will collect them from you.

Thank you once again for your continued support for those in need.

With kind regards

Julie Southworth
